October 18, 2024 | Armenian Ode: Landscapes of My Heritage
Lara Shirinyants solo exhibition
Armenian Ode: Landscapes of My Heritage was a solo exhibition by Lara Shirinyants, presenting a series of landscape paintings developed following a journey to Armenia.
The works were based on photographs taken during the artist’s travels and traced a personal exploration of place, memory, and inherited identity. Through the depiction of landscapes connected to her father’s ancestry, Shirinyants reflected on a sense of belonging shaped by distance, absence, and return.
The exhibition engaged with themes of generational trauma, loss, and remembrance, acknowledging the history carried through family narratives and the artist’s own experience of grief following her father’s passing. The landscapes functioned not as literal representations, but as emotional terrains, holding both connection and melancholy.
Armenian Ode positioned landscape painting as a means of processing heritage and personal history, offering a quiet reflection on identity, memory, and the complexities of cultural inheritance.
